Chapter 98: Song Lin vs Di Xin
Mo Ye had a worried look in his eyes.
Zhou Yu pulled up the corner of his lips and looked at Mo Ye, saying, “I think I know where he is.”
The black-backed pterodactyls flew along the rift valley in the freezing wind.
Zhou Yu could feel that they were getting closer to Di Xin, whose scent could faintly be sensed in the air.
It was at this time that the ice field beneath them seemed to vibrate and the frozen ground started to surge like waves.
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye looked at each other. Di Xin wouldn’t let them find him that easily.
The roiling ice field suddenly fell apart like it was breaking away from the pull of gravity and splashed up into the sky.
The black-backed pterodactyls immediately rose in altitude.
Zhou Yu turned to the side and lowered his head, and on closer inspection, he realized that they were actually winged snowfield ice wolves. Their eyes glowed a ghostly blue and they wore sinister and ferocious expressions.
This was an organism unique to the ice fields of Nibelungen. They lay dormant under the ice field for the vast majority of the year, only waking up for a few short days to hunt on top of the ice field. Their wings weren’t only used for flight, but also for killing.
When they rose as a pack, it was as if the entire polar region had risen into the air and was rushing in Zhou Yu’s direction.
Zhou Yu was thinking that although the snowfield ice wolves looked terrifying, if he had a hard time dealing with them alone, Mo Ye and Song Lin could definitely handle them.
Mo Ye’s eyes turned from dark ink-colored glass to a piercing golden color like the core of a furiously burning sun.
The snowfield ice wolves that flew at them seemed to hit a barrier, and even the icicles on their wings shattered as they were unable to take another step forward.
Mo Ye’s power was like an exploding star at that moment. Zhou Yu’s hair was blown upwards, and the moment Mo Ye’s power passed through him, he felt like he might crack open with that power.
The pack of snowfield ice wolves that were approaching them shattered like ice sculptures that had been hammered, scattering in all directions like waves formed by particles of ice that engulfed everything.
Zhou Yu drew in a breath. This was the first time Mo Ye had shown his ability after using the unlocking agent. It was nothing short of an atomic bomb.
After the commotion, sunlight once again fell on the ice field, but the snowfield ice wolves that had gathered from afar rushed in.
In a scenario that was like facing an avalanche with nowhere to hide, Mo Ye wore a calm and unhurried smile.
They came in full force, but the moment they raised their wings to stab at them, they froze and couldn’t move forward anymore, then fell stiffly.
They were so high up that they smashed into the ice field, making loud crashing sounds one after another.
Countless pieces of ice were knocked up from the ground like a snow-colored fireworks display.
Mo Ye turned to Zhou Yu, who understood and lowered his body to ride the black-backed pterodactyl, weaving through the snowfield ice wolves that kept falling.
They were getting closer and closer to Di Xin.
Suddenly, the glacier in front of them seemed to be pushed up by a powerful force. It shot up into the sky, blocking in front of Zhou Yu.
Zhou Yu’s pupils narrowed, not knowing what kind of organism was on the other side of the glacier. At least Zhou Yu could sense that it wasn’t Di Xin!
Charge in.
Mo Ye’s voice resounded in Zhou Yu’s mind.
Facing this layer of ice that had formed thousands of years ago, their black-backed pterodactyls stabbed in like black blades.
Zhou Yu lowered his head, feeling the ice being cracked apart by the pterodactyls skimming over his body as if he was traveling through another planet.
Suddenly, a light appeared in front of them, followed by a massive object blocking their way. Its silver-white body was constantly rotating and the scales on its body even whisked apart the glacier.

The fact that it had been dispatched meant that there was nothing else left for Di Xin to manipulate.
However, Zhou Yu still held compassion for loyal creatures.
When Song Lin turned back and was about to unleash his power, Zhou Yu formed a link with that golden sea bull.
This is not your fight, leave now!
But the golden sea bull ignored Zhou Yu’s warning and fell into the sea water before leaping up again with an air of determination.
Every creature had its own values for existence, and so did this golden sea bull.
Its mouth opened wide in preparation to swallow Zhou Yu and the others whole.
The temperature of the ice field was already low, and the long-distance, high-speed flight had exhausted the black-backed pterodactyls. Seeing the spiralling, serrated teeth of the golden sea bull that were about to crush them, Song Lin no longer intended to show any mercy, and with a single backward glance, the golden sea bull exploded outwards from its mouth.
At the same time, he touched upon Di Xin’s power.
It was so powerful that it was about to crush him inside the golden sea bull’s body, but Song Lin broke free.
Do you really think you can defeat me?
A voice with a cold, sharp chill pressed against Song Lin’s nerves, and his back sank downwards.
I’m not going to defeat you; I’m going to destroy you.
In that case, come.
Behind them, the golden sea bull sank into the sea of ice.
They charged into the widest and also the deepest part of the Great Ice Rift Valley.
The black-backed pterodactyls flew into the darkness, the light above their heads growing distant. It was like they were heading into a hell engulfed in darkness.
The temperature was at least ten degrees lower than outside the canyon, and even though he possessed the powers of an S rank organism, Zhou Yu’s fingertips almost lost all feeling.
At that very moment, Song Lin jumped off the black-backed pterodactyl and transformed into his original silver S rank state, traveling through the rift valley like a wisp of cloud over a waterfall.
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye also jumped down from their pterodactyls just in time to be caught by Song Lin.
The black-backed pterodactyls chirped and followed behind them.
Zhou Yu looked back at them: go back.
They then lifted their wings and flew back into the light overhead.
Song Lin led them to the bottom of the Great Ice Rift Valley. Their speed heading straight into the center of the earth made Zhou Yu’s heart feel as if it was going leap out of his chest. As Song Lin accelerated even more, the icy air chafed against his skin like it was going to catch fire.
But just as Song Lin seemed to be on course to crash through the canyon, he seemed to hit something. Zhou Yu could hear the bursting of every cell in his body.
Without any warning, Song Lin was pushed out by a force and slammed hard into the ice wall.
The loud noise pierced his eardrums and Zhou Yu’s eyes widened as he realized that they had already reached the end in front of them.
Song Lin was hit the hardest. He instantly reverted back to his human form and braced his hands on the ground, panting as he healed himself.
Mo Ye threw his jacket over Song Lin, then cocked his head to look at the huge ice wall in front of him.
He stepped forward, his pupils once again glowing gold. His gaze pierced through the thick layer of ice and went straight into the depth of the darkness. He saw the huge shadow of an indescribable shape embedded between the molecules of the ice layer. It seemed to be moving, slowly changing into different shapes.
Just then, the shadow suddenly rushed up to Mo Ye, wanting to penetrate the ice wall and pour into the air, then into Mo Ye’s mind.
Zhou Yu felt that power’s intrusion at the same time and he immediately combined his power with Mo Ye’s to counterattack the shadow.
They could confirm that Di Xin was inside!
The glacier’s low temperature was able to reduce the virus’s activity level in his body, so he must have been in there for a long time!
They tried to infiltrate Di Xin’s body, but Di Xin’s defenses were like an indestructible wall. They could swim among the layers of ice, but they couldn’t reach Di Xin’s main body.
Di Xin was like another, all-encompassing world, and Zhou Yu and Mo Ye were merely a part of this world.
This was Di Xin; throughout his long life, he had encountered many opponents who wanted to kill him, but he had survived until now. Merely being powerful would not be able to shake him.
Song Lin stood up carrying the edge of his jacket and wearing an indifferent expression.
Last time, he had tried his best to seriously injure Di Xin. Now he was stronger than before, while Di Xin was on the decline.
He arrived in front of the layer of ice and covered it with his palm. His power was released outwards from every cell in his body, and it seeped into the ice. He deliberately avoided Di Xin, but the entire ice wall shook.
Mo Ye reached out and clasped Zhou Yu’s shoulder, then stepped back.
The ice wall crumbled away like powder after a few seconds and the entire Great Ice Rift Valley shook with the sound of breaking ice. The entire ice field seemed be on the verge of drifting away.
It was the first time that Zhou Yu had experienced such a violent disturbance.
The power that Song Lin poured in increased exponentially, and at a certain moment, a powerful air current came directly at him accompanied by ice particles that came crashing in like the rushing tide.
The ice particles transformed into numerous ice needles under this force, bringing a pain that pierced deep into bone the moment they touched skin.
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye were hit by this force and they flew out, the sound of the whistling wind and roaring waters ringing in their ears. Their souls were almost dashed out of their bodies.
Song Lin once again transformed into his S rank state, instantly wrapping up Zhou Yu and Mo Ye and racing upwards.
Only then did Zhou Yu realize that Di Xin’s main body had already left the ice layer.
Di Xin rushed at Song Lin with overbearing force and the intent to kill him in one fell swoop. In Di Xin’s world, there was no concept of father and son, only submission and destruction.
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye once again joined forces, and the moment Di Xin clashed with Song Lin, they took the opportunity to infiltrate his body, pushing right in.
Di Xin was like a vast universe, but Zhou Yu and Mo Ye surprisingly couldn’t find a gap to escape from!
Compared with Di Xin, their power disappeared like a drop of water in the ocean.
Song Lin sensed Zhou Yu and Mo Ye’s predicament and dashed higher into the sky.
The ice field under the sunlight reflected the massive shadows of the two S rank organisms, like blots of ink fallen into water that quickly dispersed in swirls.
Their space for movement was no longer restricted and Song Lin made a big turn in the air before determinedly charging at Di Xin.
Di Xin also didn’t slow down and the moment they collided with each other, power erupted in all directions. The air that was pushed away almost formed a vacuum and the layers of glaciers on the ice field were overturned by this power, emitting a deafening sound.
“Ugh…” Zhou Yu’s soul felt like it was going to be crushed by this power.
Song Lin’s body was practically about to be shattered by Di Xin, the destroyed pieces spreading out into the surrounding space. Such an injury would take much more than a minute or two heal even if it was possible.
Before Zhou Yu could worry about Song Lin, Mo Ye led him to invade Di Xin again.
Song Lin had already created the perfect opportunity for them!
All it took was the slightest crack for them to tear out a new dawn!
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye teamed up again, their power racing along the surface of Di Xin’s body, searching. Previously, every cell in Di Xin’s body was tightly bound together, and even if Zhou Yu and Mo Ye tried to shake them apart, they would only be entering a trap Di Xin had set for them. But now, Di Xin’s body was like a city wall that had lost the soldiers guarding it. Zhou Yu and Mo Ye aggressively infiltrated it and weaved through it with reckless abandon, breaking through all of his flowing blood cells, stifling his muscles, and crushing the connections of every single nerve!
Zhou Yu felt like he was running wild, flying with Mo Ye, and no matter what was obstructing the path in front, it was instantly eliminated before their speed and power.
The seriously injured Song Lin was falling from a high altitude.
On the other hand, Di Xin, who was being disintegrated by Zhou Yu and Mo Ye, swooped down without hesitating, set on destroying Song Lin.
In only an instant, Di Xin caught up with Song Lin and viciously strangled him.
The two S rank organisms formed a huge silver vortex that hurtled into the ice field from high up in the sky. The force of the impact was like the explosion of a comet!
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye, however, were racing against time.
Zhou Yu’s heart was pounding as if it was trying to break away from his body.
Each moment was faster than the previous one.
“Stop restricting yourself… You and I are the same; our power never needed to be bound to any vessel, not even a body…”
Mo Ye’s voice rang in Zhou Yu’s ears, seemingly a world away.
Zhou Yu only wanted to get closer to Mo Ye and break through all barriers.
Every cell was close to destruction, and deep in his consciousness, Pandora’s Box was opened. Powerful forces Zhou Yu had never been aware of were being unleashed in an endless torrent.
This power couldn’t be described as a monstrous wave; it was like it came from the depths of an ancient past, constantly breaking away from and bursting through all obstacles to dash towards the light, growing stronger the more it broke free from its bonds. The moment it converged with Mo Ye’s power, it completely invaded Di Xin’s body all at once.
Di Xin, who had fallen into the ice field at the same time as Song Lin, was completely taken by surprise, to the point where for the first time in his life, he felt a creeping fear.
For the first time after all those long years, he had a taste of annihilation. His body was collapsing and breaking apart beyond his control! Just like a hurricane approaching a dust ball, his existence would be completely obliterated!
Song Lin broke through Di Xin’s shackles and the ice field cracked open to form huge gaps. They were what remained from Song Lin traveling upwards to leave the ice field.
The ice particles he brought up glittered in the sunlight, circling past in the air like northern lights that enveloped the world.
Di Xin, on the other hand, sank to the bottom of the rift while struggling to move.
His body was already in pieces.
Mo Ye and Zhou Yu’s powers returned to their bodies, that moment of euphoria like being reborn again.
Zhou Yu closed his eyes and took a deep breath while the icy wind sliced past his cheeks. There was no moment in his life when he was as certain of his existence as now.
Song Lin landed smoothly with them before returning to his human form. Mo Ye wrapped him in his jacket.
“Hey… are you sure you really want to kill him?” Mo Ye tilted his chin with a hint of apathy in his voice.
Song Lin lowered his head, buttoning the edge of his jacket as he staggered to his feet.
He was very weak, since engaging with Di Xin head-on had taken almost all of his strength.
Di Xin had smashed in a rift that was both large and deep in the ice field, and he had collapsed right inside it.
Song Lin came to the edge of the rift and looked down at Di Xin.
The wind pushed against his body as if it would blow him down at any moment.
“Do you want to kill me?” Di Xin’s voice came echoing from the bottom of the rift.
His intrinsic air of arrogance carried a hint of dejection.
Song Lin shook his head.
“I never wanted to kill you. I only wanted to destroy you. Now I’ve done that.”
Song Lin was about to turn back when Di Xin’s voice came again like the deafening sound of a collapsing glacier.
“You will never be human.”
“It doesn’t matter if I’m human or not.” There was a hint of weariness in Song Lin’s voice, but also determination. “Nothing lasts forever anyway, including you and me. I know where I must return… what about you?”
Zhou Yu and Mo Ye stood nearby, watching Song Lin’s back.
He was extremely small compared to the endless ice field, yet his back stood straight like a sharp blade piercing into the sky.
Zhou Yu’s gaze passed through Song Lin’s shoulders and saw an incomparably vast space.
Song Lin raised his hand and several snowfield ice wolves flew over to land before them, lowering their heads in a humble and submissive gesture.
“Let’s go back.” Song Lin straddled one of them.
“Are you sure?” Mo Ye cocked his head. “If you don’t kill him now, you won’t get another chance like this.”
Song Lin glanced back and said in a calm and composed tone, “You two practically destroyed his body and the virus inside him is disrupting his ability to heal. He will continue to weaken until he takes his last breath. There’s no need for us to do anything, Nibelungen will take his life.”
Zhou Yu understood what Song Lin meant by the phrase “Nibelungen will take his life.”
There was no organism that didn’t have a mortal enemy. Perhaps Di Xin was at the top of Nibelungen’s food chain, but Nibelungen will eventually consume his life with the virus.
Immortality did not exist.
Zhou Yu suddenly felt like Song Lin really was very, very similar to Song Zhi.
Does loving someone make you become more like that person as well?

They swept across the pure white ice field and came to the border where ice and land met.
The snowfield ice wolves stopped, and Zhou Yu and the others realized that the black-backed pterodactyls they had left earlier were still waiting for them.
Seeing that they were safe and sound, the black-backed pterodactyls revealed expressions of delight, which also sparked warmth in Zhou Yu’s heart.
“Let’s go back!”
The black-backed pterodactyls carried them across the sea and towards the land they came from.
Zhou Yu turned to look at Mo Ye, who was wearing a lazy expression, then kissed the corner of his lips in his heart.
Seeming to have sensed Zhou Yu’s emotions, the corner of Mo Ye’s lips gently dimpled as he closed his eyes, appearing to be listening to the sound of the wind.
At this time, Base No. 5 was busy with activity because someone of utmost importance was about to cross the magnetic field from the human world to Nibelungen.
Dr. Cook was extremely strained, personally verifying all parameters and muttering under her breath.
“Why is he in such a hurry to come here? It’s simply not safe enough!”
Isaac held a mug as he leisurely watched Dr. Cook’s back. “No place is absolutely safe, not even the human world.”
When Cook heard his voice, she turned back as if she had been stimulated in some way and said viciously, “I know it was you! It was you who convinced Father! You told me to send Song Zhi back, and now Father doesn’t even seem to care about his betrayal anymore. He’s even letting him continue his research over there!”
“Who’s fault is it that Song Zhi’s more capable at research than you? He created a slow-release agent for tumors just from his own memories of his first three years in Nibelungen, and he saved your father’s life. Our esteemed Mr. Eton’s trust in him isn’t absolute either. Wasn’t Dr. Ron sent back to assist Song Zhi? He’s assisting him in name, but in reality, everyone knows that he’s actually there to monitor him. And besides the research lab your father gave him, Song Zhi can’t go anywhere or do anything, just like a research machine that will work until he’s bled dry by your father.”
Gracias por el cap!
